Patent Engineer & Trade Mark Attorney
Jacqui holds a Bachelor of Engineering (electrical and electronic) with honours from the University of Western Australia. During her studies at UWA, Jacqui conducted research into using a Laser Beam Induced Current (LBIC) machine to characterize HgCdTe photodiodes. After graduating from UWA, Jacqui took up a position at Motorola in Mawson Lakes, South Australia, as a Software Engineer. She then moved into the patent profession, working for a prominent firm in Osaka, Japan analysing patents, followed by a prominent Australian firm where she commenced her patent attorney exams.
Jacqui is an Australian registered Trade Marks Attorney, and is currently completing the examinations towards her patent attorney qualification, whilst also studying a PhD in the Electron Science Research Institute at Edith Cowan University. Her PhD is titled ‘Investigating optimum wavelength(s) for growth of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) using tunable LED sources and developing thin film filters for glass greenhouses’. The research is multi-disciplinary and so far has involved growing lettuce plants under various LED light conditions to determine the optimum wavelength of light required for optimum biomass growth, and utilizing that wavelength range to fabricate a thin-film filter on a glass substrate in the clean-room on campus at Edith Cowan University.
Jacqui has worked with IP Sentinels since 2016, and subsequently since IP Sentinels merged with Golja Haines and Friend. Jacqui has assisted with the drafting of patents, prosecution of patents, patent infringement advices, and freedom to operate opinions across a wide range of companies, from start-ups to large companies.
